Blue Moss

mossy-ground-showing textture-and varied-greens
Several species of moss and other ground covers.

With the Autumn rain, the pads of dry, yellowing, crunchy moss turn green, lush and soft again.  Often, multiple species grow together, providing interesting variations on colour and texture.

While I love the varied greens, I wanted a fabric with strong blues, so I decided to experiment with the concept of blue moss, incorporating violet and turquoise into the mix.

Using mixed media, I emphasised the angles and shapes of the moss, and then added solid blue lines to bring out the colours.  The resulting fabric is vibrant and fun, lending itself to many kinds of projects.  I think I am going to make place mats with it.
